The Thirsty Crow – One of Aesop's most famous fables about intelligence and persistence.
The Story
On a scorching summer day, a thirsty crow flew desperately searching for water. Exhausted, he spotted a tall pitcher with just a little water at the bottom – too low to reach through its narrow neck.
The crow tried pushing the pitcher but it was too heavy. Then he noticed pebbles nearby. Brilliant idea! He picked them up one by one with his beak and dropped them into the pitcher.
Each pebble raised the water level slightly. Patiently continuing, soon the water rose high enough for him to drink his fill.
Moral
"Where there's a will, there's a way" – Little by little does the trick. Need + Creativity = Solution.
Science Behind It
This fable is real! Studies show crows/rooks actually solve this exact problem using causal reasoning (displacement physics), not just trial-and-error. They understand pebbles raise water levels.
